ARRIVAL TO COLOMBIA – BOGOTÁ

Our wedding will take place in a little village called Villa de Leyva, three hours north of Bogotá. The best way to reach Villa de Leyva is to fly in to Bogotá and then take land transportation for the final leg. We will provide busses for those who need transport, or you may book your own transport if you prefer.

There are several daily flights from the US and Europe to Bogotá, you may search and book your flight at Google Flights

Passport Info

Most airlines require passports with over six-month validity for international travel.

VISAS

EU, US and LATAM citizens don’t need visas for Colombia. You may check if you need a visa here:

Visa policy of Colombia – Wikipedia.

Should you need one, you may process it here: Visa | Cancillería

Immigration and Customs in Bogotá

All arriving passengers to Colombia must fill in the  Check-MIG form. It takes around two minutes to fill. Your airline will require you to have it filled before boarding, you’ll receive an electronic copy of it to your e-mail.

Immigration may take between 30 minutes to two hours at Bogotá’s airport, depending on the hour of arrival. The immigration officer will check for your CheckMIG, so have it handy! During the interview you may mention that you are going to a wedding in Villa de Leyva: “voy a la boda de unos amigos en Villa de Leyva”.

Airport Taxi

The sole authorised operator from Bogotá’s airport is “Taxi Imperial”. You may identify these cabs by their blue airport sign on their doors. You may ask your hotel to book a private taxi.

Private transport

If you’d rather have a private driver, any of the Danis may put you in contact with a trustworthy person.

UBER / Cabify

Uber and Cabify are available in Bogotá. If you’ll use either of these services, they will pick you up at the departures level ( Level 2) of the terminal building. Uber/Cabify drivers in Bogotá prefer if you ride shotgun, and then the other passengers take the back sit.

The swiftest and safest way around Bogotá are Uber or Cabify cars. We strongly advise you not to hail taxis from the street, and prefer ride-hailing apps. If you prefer, any of the Danis can share with you a trustworthy driver whom you may contact for your transportation.
